Florida Cities

If you love the beach, you will definitely want to check out Florida’s cities. The southeasternmost state of the United States has hundreds of miles of beautiful beaches. The state’s largest city, Miami, is known for its Latin influences and its upscale South Beach area. Orlando, meanwhile, is famous for its theme parks, including Walt Disney World.

Fort Myers

Fort Myers is the county seat and commercial center of Lee County, Florida. Its population was 62,298 at the 2010 census. As of the 2020 census, the city is expected to have an estimated population of 86,395 residents.

Key Largo

Scuba diving is a popular pastime in Key Largo, Florida. The waters here are so clear that even the faintest of scuba divers can see the marine life. There are hundreds of species of fish, eels, sharks, and stingrays to explore. Scuba divers can also see the wreck of the USS Spiegel Grove, which was intentionally sunk in 2002 to create an artificial reef.

St. Augustine

For tourists seeking a cultural and historical experience, St. Augustine, Florida has many attractions to offer. Many of these attractions are free to visit. The city has a rich history, dating back to the pre-Columbian period. The city’s economy is largely based on tourism and service industries. It is also known for its fishing industry, which includes both commercial and recreational fishing.

Sarasota

If you’re looking for a vacation spot on the Gulf Coast, you can’t do better than Sarasota, Florida. Once home to the Ringling Brothers Circus, Sarasota offers visitors miles of fine sand and shallow water beaches, cultural institutes, and plenty of outdoor activities.

Tallahassee

Tallahassee is the state capital of Florida. Its Capitol Complex features the restored Historic Capitol, which now serves as a museum, and a 1970s Capitol tower that offers city views. There’s also a Museum of Florida History, which covers history from European colonization to the Civil War and WWII. In addition, Tallahassee is home to antebellum mansions, such as the 1843 Knott House Museum.

Gainesville

Gainesville is a city in northern Florida, home to the University of Florida. The campus is filled with cultural attractions, including the Florida Museum of Natural History. Exhibits include fossils, anthropological displays, and the Butterfly Rainforest. You can also visit the Harn Museum of Art, which has a massive collection of Asian art. There is also a vintage postcard collection at the Matheson History Museum.
